The Omega Speedmaster is a well known watch that was introduced in 1957. Known for being worn on the moonin 1962, and continues to be one of the few watches qualified by NASA for spaceflight.
My mother-in-law gave me this watch as a wedding gift. I didn't particularly like the look of the braclet. When put on the NATO strap, it looked much more sporty and to my liking. The versitility of using different straps with different designs was intriguing. It's a classic design that's aged well.
The case, chronograph plungers, stem pull-out, winding and overall feel of the watch is very solid. It doesn't feel delicate at all. The exhibition caseback is a nice touch allowing you to see the decently decorated non-automatic movement.
This is my first mechanical watch and I wear it amost daily. I have other watches, however this is the casual watch that I don't have to put much thought into - it fits in with whatever I'm wearing and wherever I'm going.
If this watch interests you with it's classic design and rich history - you can't go wrong as a first watch or adding it to your collection.
