I purchased four of these hard-drive for my DiskStation DS923+. I chose these are they are designed for 24/7 NAS use, priced fairly and had decent reviews online. I did briefly look at Western Digital Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD though they are quite a bit more expensive. Since SSDs typically have a lower write lifetime than a spinning disk, I wasn't sure how long those drives would last. I went for more hard-drive space and a lower cost (spinning disk), than a faster and silent drive (SSD).
I've been using the drives for over a year. Nothing bad to say about them. The read/write access is fast enough for my use cases of photos and music. The temperatures hover between 88-90 degrees fahrenheit. No issues encountered.
Unrelated to the product, I received an email about the Western Digitial online store being hacked and my personal information was exposed. This frusterated me quite a bit as the website wasn't great to begin with, had to provide a bit of information, and ultimately my personal data became public within a month of my purchase. If I purchase more Western Digital products, I will think twice about using their online store, even if the price is lower.
